We feature local
family oriented programming with an emphasis on under served
programming categories. These include local sports coverage,
children's programs, and in depth local public affairs
programming. Similar to the early days of television
broadcasting, a lot of our programming is be live.
The programming
structure is a tried and true formula that is in use by
approximately 2200 local low power stations in the United States.
If you had to describe the programming formula in two words they
would be "local, local." Maximum local access and
participation. 100% of our prime time programming is Canadian
content with 80% Canadian content overall. Prime time for
Canadians!
All programming
is in the English language. We will promote a Canadian identity,
sharing a common ground of interest with all ethnic groups.
We take a strong
stand against violent and offensive programming. Our
"watershed" hour for adult oriented programming will be
11 p.m.- 2 hours past the 9 p.m. watershed presently used by the
Canadian television industry. Excessively violent programming is
not aired at any hour. Companion information to our programming
will be simultaneously available on an Internet worldwide web
site featuring channel news groups, Internet videconferencing,
and on line interactivity during live shows. We want to create
virtual town meetings, local interest news and videoconference
groups interacting with live broadcasts. Live video call-ins via
the Internet are possible as is video on demand.
We have a plan
for sustained emergency operation in case of a natural or man
made disaster. We have made provisions for easy conversion to
generator power, a bunker like control room, extensive downlink
and communication capabilities. With the disruption of land lines
low power over the air UHF broadcasting may provide the only
sustainable TV pictures. Familiar local faces delivering the
facts will be a comfort to citizens undergoing extreme danger and
adversity.
We want to be a
station that doesn't merely repeat programming from south of the
border. A station where parents don't have to be concerned about
what children are watching. A station where family values mean
something. A station that explores what it means to be Canadian.
A station that's a conduit for positive social change and action.
A station that is accessible to the hearing impaired. A unique
alternative in Canadian television broadcasting!
