Dear Secretary General,
This letter is written in support of the application by Jan Pachul for a broadcasting licence. I am familiar with Mr. Pachul's proposal and support it 100%.
I have served the Beaches and East Toronto community for over 15 years as a school trustee and city councillor. I am aware of the many activities and organizations that could benefit a great deal by the exposure to the wider community that Mr. Pachul's station would provide. For example, I recently helped create a public park specifically designed for handicapped children in our ward. More people should know about its existence, and a community television station would provide such a public service.
Mr. Pachul's proposal also would broadcast city council meetings and city committee meetings. Part of a working, democratic civic system is a well informed populace. There are many issues that currently are not debated broadly by those affected. I think the proposed new community channel will assist in involving more residents in these issues and result in local government making better decisions.
Please approve this broadcasting licence proposal. Thank you for your consideration of my letter.
