Dear Secretary General: 1. Specific to Public Hearing 2001-8: Jan Pachul, give Jan Pachul a CRTC licence to operate his television station now! 2. Please give Jan Pachul and any other brave souls that step forward to broadcast television or radio a chance to succeed for Canada. There arent that many people in Canada capable of accomplishing even what Jan Pachul has. Give them a chance. Who are you protecting from Canadian local community broadcasting? 3. It seems a funny way to nurture Canadian artistic accomplishment by stifling the means to have their talent seen. Without access to the public airwaves through community television stations, that were mandated by the CRTC to be provided by cable companies, talented Canadians are being held down and not allowed to hone their skills by the CRTC and the entrenched broadcast industry. Talent needs a proving ground and the entrenched broadcast industry does not and can not provide that platform as thoroughly as local community television stations. 4. JOBS, JOBS, JOBS and training in all sorts of technological and entertainment related skill sets are available with a flowering of Canadas low-power local community television stations. 5. The CRTC should not say anything about print media. When it makes these types of ridiculous edicts concerning the press, it only shows the extent to which the quasi-court overextends its boundaries and rules in areas where it has no jurisdiction. Low-power local community television is another area where the CRTC has no legitimate authority nor should have any jurisdiction. Industry Canada has a better knowledge base and expertise and would do a better job. Sincerely, Paul Coulbeck Political Candidate Toronto, Ontario **End of document** |
