Subject: CRTC vs Citizens of Canada/Jan Pachul?

Date: Sunday, August 26, 2001 4:22 AM

Dear Mr. Jan Pachul

This evening, on the ROBTV's (Report on Business TV) transmission of August 25, 2001 in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, I had heard the tail end of discussion about the Staray TV in Toronto. For more information, I turned to the Internet and my seach with the keywords "Star ray TV" did find your website.

First of all, I congratulate you and many other fellow Canadians who are directly and indirectly suppporting your mission of "Community Television" at the grass-root level!

Secondly, I want you to know that I am very disturbed and angered at the myopic vision of community television, lack of "Untainted Judicial Will" (opposition from the Canadian corporate broadcasting cartel: Chum City, CTV, Rogers Cable, CAB, and CCTV.), breach of trust as well as prodecural gymnastics of the CRTC as documented on your website.

With the exception of Mr. David McKendry and Ms. Barbra Cram , Commissioners writing dissenting opinions in favour of Star Ray TV ( which is the flag bearer of Community TV at the grass root level in Canada), let it be reminded to all the commissoners as well as the chair of the CRTC that they draw their salaries from the public purse and are fully accountable to the Canadian public.

Also, let it be very clear to the CRTC that community television at the grass-root level shall be the "mission" of all Canadians in all provincial communities in the wake of New Technological Advances. Having said the above, with due respect to you and all other concerned Canadians I suggest the following for an immediate consideration:

1. E-mail links to Members of Parliament be made available on your website so that people can protest to their MPs.

2. Members of the Opposition in the House of Commons must be held responsible to raise this serious issues with the Government and the Minister be held accountable in the question periods.

3. E-mail links to all the commissioners be made available on your website so that Canadians can express their vision about the community television as the grass-root level.

4. A judicial/public inquiry into the CRTC conduct be demanded to substantiate the breach of trust allegations.

Best regards.

Nasir Fiqia
