Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0N2 Re: 15 Toronto. Ont. - Jan Pachul - CRTC 1999-10 I wish to express my strongest support for this application which should serve to fill the community-based television channel void in Toronto. Committed to resisting a cable/satellite TV subscription (as a matter of principle), I can find in Toronto only broad-based regional programming with the currently available channels. Furthermore, of the 18 off-air channel choices available in my neighbourhood, nine (or half) are American, a surprising fact given the reasonable distance from the U.S. border and the far greater Canadian population in the region. On this subject, I have only one reservation/objection. Channel 15 is already occupied here by a Buffalo religious station and I believe its interference with the proposed station would be intolerable at the fringes and limit the station's coverage. I strongly urge the use of channel 14 instead which is not utilized anywhere in the region to my knowledge and seems interference-free. With so few such channels available, Industry Canada should be obliged to make this channel available for its intended purpose as a television broadcasting frequency. Channel 14 would allow Mr. Pachul's signal to reach the greatest number of residents with the power available. Yours truly, Kevin Walters, P.Eng. cc: J. Pachul Industry Canada *** End of Document ***
