Subject: Star Ray TV Licensing

To whom it may concern,

As a private citizen of this great nation called Canada, I believe all peoples have a right to their own voice. As this is the overt stipulation of many governmental press releases, it saddens me to think that Star Ray TV is not being given a fair shake by your organization. Yes, they may not be as slick and production-refined as the high-budget stations, but at least let them know what they need to meet your vaguely undefined standards, what is the real reason you cannot give them a licence. Of course, I understand you may not be able to divulge this: it would be embarrassing to reveal that a popular local station exercising their freedom of speech cannot be given a licence because 'member' corporations object to the new kid on the block. Most new independant radio and TV stations applying for staus who do not meet with your fickle standards simply go away. I hope for the sake of free speech that Star Ray TV does not. Canada needs to own up to its spin doctor lip service of granting canadians the right to chose and speak freely. It's time for the CRTC to grow up and embrace the new millenium. Hopefully that means you will become less of a rich boys club and start really serving the interests of canadians. You may be surprised how advantageous that can be to your bottom line.

A dissapointed citizen,

Joseph Balderson
