Subject: Application (199812524) by JAN PACHUL, 204 Main Street, Toronto, Ontario, M4E 3V4 1. This intervention is in support of application 199812524. The applicant has received a true copy. 2. I totally support Star Ray TV's plans for a broadcasting licence to carry on an English-language low power television station at Toronto. I have met Mr. Pachul and toured his studios and was quite impressed with what he's put together. 3. This would be an excellent vehicle to help boost local community theatres. I'm thinking of televising excerpts from stage productions. My group, On Kew Players, is interested. 4. I'd like to see local community events and sports on the air. There are some great things happening that very few even know about. Television is the answer. 5. On the street interviews on local issues would help to bind what I feel is now a very fragmented community. There are a great many older citizens in this area who would benefit greatly. 6. Local artists, musicians and craftspeople would have the opportunity to televise their talents. 7. Volunteers and apprentices to the station would gain much experience on both sides of the camera. This could lead to new careers for young people who may not have the resources for expensive college programs. 8. I'd like to make the streets safer for both cyclists and pedestrians with a show on the pleasures, and especially, the responsibilies of cyclists. Bicycle users need to lose their fear of the road and get off the sidewalks. I would like to promote the approved Can-Bike Program offered by the City of Toronto. 9. Giving the power of the camera to those with a desire to help ones in need will create greater social cohesion. People want to feel safer and happier interacting with neighbours, friends and family. 10. Please approve this application.
