A local T.V. station is a fantastic idea as it can help many people get their shows off the ground, I for Example am one of them. I am a local actress/comedy writer. I have applied to do a sketch comedy show on Roger's Cable T.V. only to have no response. I feel it is very cliquish and political who gets a program and Roger's Cable couldn't care less if the person applying has background in T.V. or the talent to make the show work. I was involved for ten years with a small cable T.V station , but, had my access abruptIy cancelled when Rogers bought this station. When I was involved with cable T.V. I produced a few comedy shows, but did not produce all the comedy shows I was promised. The program director was difficult and unprofessional. He got worse when he went to work for Rogers. When he sold his cable program to commerical television, he repeatedly promised me to make a regular on the show, but only gave me a few appearances in the several years of doing the show. He promised me various things I'd do on the show, but never full filled his promises. He once or twice had me come down for a taping, only not to use me at all. Star Ray T. V. would be a great vehicle for local talent. It would especially be good for those who lost their access due to Rogers buying out the cable station that they access in. Cable television was a great medium in the 80's since everyone conid have access. Star Ray T.V. could bring this back. Local people could get their start in T.V. and there could be a lot of fun shows on T. V. again. So please consider the application. Thank you. Yours truly, Charlene Zacks |
