Community Centre 55, a community charity, supports Jan Pachul's CRTC application (199812524 ) for a broadcasting license to carry on an English-language low power television programming for a new station (Channel 15) with a transmitter power of 476 watts, provided that the operating mandate of the station is to promote the programs, services, and opportunities in the local neighbourhoods. 2. It is our position that the television marketplace is supersaturated with programming and consequently it is impossible for local charities to market, advertise, promote and provide programming input to the existing television stations all of which are national, regional, local and none of which-including community cable stations- are "neighbourhood/community based." 3. From our perspective, to make application number 199812524 successful, the station must be mobile, accessible, and serve as a conduit through which information on programs and services and opportunities flow to the community and will help ensure that residents know what programs and service and opportunities exist and how to access them, including opportunities for volunteers.
