Subject: Sept 19 hearing for star ray tv uhf 15

Date: Monday, August 20, 2001 2:09 AM

Dear Sir or Madams,

I am sending this intervention on my own behalf supporting Star Ray tv staying on the Uhf frequency channel 15 and for it to continue it's support in the community.

Having volunteered my time working with Mr.Pachul and his station Star Ray tv for the past 4 years i have found that Mr Pachul has attained a very important place in the community, and that place is helping people to get their word out on real issues that we feel are important ones to the people of the community.

Issues such as the environment, youth violence, churches helping the needy and homeless, are brought to light in a different and unique way, a way that does not exist on such many mainstream cable stations. We allow the guests on our show public forum to show their side of things without courses of censorship and media bleeping of certain issues that we feel should be brought forth to our viewers and in the meantime not allowing any vulgar or obscene material to be broadcasted. Our candidates for the mayors race in the last election shed a light on some of the fringe candidates, which mainstream cable did not give little or no air time to, claiming that it was not in the stations best interest to broadcast the different candidates points of view and only to give certain publicity whom they thought should be given the most exposure too. Our ''Streeters'' sections of programming gives the viewers a true to life look onto the opinions of the people of the streets of Toronto. Along with our regular programming day to day our slot of Prime Time For Canadians lets the independent producers show their works to a outlet where they might not have on mainstream cable.

Not to let Mr Pachul broadcast in any way shape or form on the UHF band to me is a censorship of freedom of speech of this country and the last time i looked we are living in a free and democratic society, a society that our fathers and grandfathers fought so hard to preserve.

If the CRTC does not have any kind of policy about UHF tv Mr.Pachul in my opinion should receive a exemption from the broadcast act and lets get on with producing quality community programming in this city, programming that other stations have not been doing in keeping up with their end of the broadcast act to have Canadian Content a thing that this country sadly lacks in view of all of the American brainwashing that we the people of Canada have taken for granted. C mom people lets for once have our own identity!
