Re: Application # 199812524 by JAN PACHUL
This letter is written in support of the
application by Jan Pachul for a broadcast licence. I would also
like to appear at the oral phase of the hearing to make a
personal statement, as I think that the unique nature of the
application and the needs of our community can best be
communicated in this way.
The Ashbridge Bay Watershed Council is involved
in advocating for an ecosystem approach to urban planning.
Founded in 1994, we work in schools and on local committees. Mr.
Pachul has supported our interest in better communicating to
those who live in our neighbourhood, and has encouraged us to
create regular live and documentary programming to be carried on
the proposed channel.
Despite very pressing environmental issues that
make the word "crisis" not out of place, there is a
general malaise, disbelief, and inaction in working toward
appropriate solutions. Certainly part of the responsibility for
this malaise rests with the current media providers. By providing
a platform for local concerns and specific issues to be addressedin
depth, not as a three minute segmentMr. Pachuls
community-based station is in fact part of helping to address
this very urgent crisis.
Please consider this application favourably. I
look forward to speaking in front of the Commission personally.
Please call me at 416.778.5361 if you wish to discuss any of the
above.
Sincerely,
Oliver Zielke
Director
